The Freemasons of Fidalgo #77 are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community.
On the 28th day of March 1891, Garfield Lodge No. 41 at LaConner, Washington vouched for the 30 master Masons whose petition for a Lodge of Master Masons, to be known as Fidalgo Lodge, was presented to them. This petition was duly approved by Garfield Lodge No. 41 and a recommendation that it be granted was sent in with it to M. W. Brother Edmiston, Grand Master of Masons in Washington. On the 4th day of April 1891, The Grand Lodge issued a Dispensation to form a Lodge of Master Masons at Anacortes, Washington, to be known as Fidalgo Lodge No. 76.
On May 13th an application for a charter was submitted and the Grand Lodge on June 11, 1891, issued the charter to Fidalgo Lodge No. 76. Two brothers had withdrawn their names on May 31st leaving 28 charter members. The number of Fidalgo Lodge was changed when the Grand Lodge refused to let Oriental Lodge take the number 33. This number was originally given to a Lodge in Alaska which lost its charter and Grand Lodge decreed that the charters should be numbered consecutively as application was made. Therefore, Oriental Lodge was number 73, and the lodges which were numbered 74, 75 and 76 had to drop back one number. The charter to Fidalgo Lodge No. 76 was recalled and a new charter issued to Fidalgo Lodge No. 77 in its stead.
